It has been a while…

Hi everyone! It has been a while since we’ve posted anything on the website. All of us here at CPP have been busy with various things so far this year. I know our release frequency is still very slow and sporadic, but it really can’t be helped. We have been slowly chipping away at some new releases and hope to get them out ASAP. When will that be? I really can’t say or guarantee anything. I personally have been busy trying to change jobs in the past few months or so, so that has been preoccupying my very limited spare time lately. The other staff members have been busy with different things as well. I did find a new job, however, so hopefully that means I’ll be more happy and motivated, which means more fansubbing progress. Starting next week, I’m going to be taking a week and a half or two week vacation before I start at my new job, so hopefully I can catch up on my fansubbing backlog. How much that actually will be, we’ll just have to wait and see. Anyway, I’d just like to say sorry for the continued slowness of our group to our fans and thank you for waiting patiently for our releases and sticking with us. I’m hoping we can speed up our releases in the second half of the year.

Oh yeah, before I forget. I know this is going to be a longshot, but it never hurts to try. If any of you out there, whether you’re just a fan or a current or former fansubber, we could definitely use some extra help within the group. Our most pressing need right now is another editor, but will consider other positions, if we find the right candidates. So if any of you are interested or want to find out more information, feel free to send us an email at , head on over to our IRC channel on Rizon: irc:// or come on over to our Discord server: . Contacting us on Discord will get you the quickest response. Messages and inquires via IRC and email will be checked eventually, but may be slower than Discord, so please be aware of that. Well, that about wraps it up. Hope to hear from you soon!

Latest Update About Our Group’s Current Status

Hi everyone! Sorry for the lack of releases and updates as of late. We were originally planning to try and release something on September 8th (CP Memorial Day), but alas, this crazy year threw another wrench into the machinery. I got really busy with work, so I went on another one of my infamous MIA stints. I work at an “essential business”, so this pandemic has been very busy and quite rough for me this year. Well, it has been weird, rough, crazy, and etc for all of us. Anyway, we’re not dead or anything. Things are just moving along VERY slowly. Hopefully, this will change in the near future.

Anyway, we hope to be able to release something on December 24th, which you all may remember, is CP’s birthday. I figure since we missed out on his memorial day, it would be a shame if we missed releasing something in honor of his birthday. Of course, with all the craziness that has been going on this year, we can’t guarantee anything, but will try extra had to make a release possible on that day/occasion. Hopefully, things will go much smoother for our group next year. Only time will tell, I guess.

Well, that about sums up our group’s current situation. Again, sorry about the lack of releases and updates. Thank you for being patient with us. We look forward to releasing more rare (and maybe not so rare) stuff for all of you to enjoy in the near future. Feel free to leave a comment on the website or contact us on IRC or by email, if you want to. Oh yeah, and if there are any experienced subbers out there that are interested in helping us out, please do feel free to get in touch with us. I know this is a long shot, but extra help never hurts. We especially could use some more QC help, but will hear out offers to help out in other areas/tasks as well.

Happy New Year! Hello there, 2020…

Happy New Year, everyone! I hope you all had a great and safe holiday season with friends and family. I spent some quality time with my family, but I also had to work, but that’s just life, huh? Anyway, a new year means (hopefully) much more fansub releases by us. Of course, that will all depend on what happens in each one of our members lives offline AKA real life. I’m really confident that we’ll release more stuff than last year. It’s very likely that we’ll pick up some new projects to work on throughout the year. What those potential projects will be? I’m not quite sure yet. Whatever interests us and catches our attention.

I hate to say this, but I’ll probably go on at least one of my (in)famous MIA stints some time during the year. It pains me to have to take a long leave from subbing, but alas, real life is just like that. But while I’m active, I’ll do my best to translate and/or do translation checks on as much stuff as I can. Well, that’s what I always shoot for, so there’s nothing different in that department. Just like last year, I’ll also sometimes be helping out Collectr at Orphan Fansubs and Saizen Fansubs. Plus, I’ll probably be helping out some other groups, like Soldado-Subs and Yabai Fansubs as well. Oh yeah, last month, I agreed to help out Honobono Fansubs, so if you follow or check their stuff out, I’ll be helping them finish up Goldfish Warning and whatever else projects I agree to help out on afterwords. I’ve been subbing for quite a while now (my 14th year this year), so I know quite a few subbers and am always willing to help out fellow old school anime subbing groups or subbers still active and around (which is not very much). I’m not trying to claim in the slightest that I’m an “elite tier” or whatever subber, but since I’ve been around for a while, I have a fair amount of connections. I’ve always flew under the radar, so I’m still kind of an unknown in the whole fansubbing scene in general. I have always preferred to be the “mysterious subber”, whom doesn’t step into the limelight much at all.

Anyhoo, this is the general overview of our group’s goals for 2020. We hope to exceed them, but only time will tell. I know we’re not popular or that well-known, but to all the people who watch and wait for our releases, thank you very much. I hope you enjoy our work and that it brings you all joy, because that’s one of our goals as a fansub group. Well, take it easy, everyone.

We’re (I’m) Still Alive…

Sorry for the lack of releases/updates/posts lately. It’s mostly my fault because I have been MIA due to IRL issues for 4 or 5 months. Anyway, we’re not dead and are still alive. Hopefully, we can get caught up and release some stuff in the near future. Can’t really give an ETA for anything right now, since I have just returned from my MIA stint and am easing my way back into subbing. The group has to catch up on stuff and etc, as well. Nothing has been dropped (aside from the Natsume Yuujinchou movie, since it has been licensed and released by Aniplex USA) so rest assured.

KyoAni Tragedy

I’m sure a lot of you anime fans out there has heard about the tragic and senseless act of arson on the KyoAni (Kyoto Animation) studio on Thursday, July 18th by now. To say I was shocked and saddened when learning about this is a huge understatement. Upon hearing about it, I was immediately filled with so many different emotions at once. I just can’t believe how anyone could be so evil and uncaring to commit such a heinous crime. This once again proves that there are “true demons” in this world. I’m still in a mixed state of emotions over this whole incident and am not sure how long it will be until I can sort out all my feelings. TBH, I haven’t felt “normal” ever since hearing/finding out about this. I don’t want to sound like some kind of depressed and negative bastard, but a little bit more of my faith in humanity has once again been lost after learning of this tragedy.

Anyway, I’ve seen a fair share of great anime created by KyoAni throughout the years. Some of my favorite works by them are: Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu, Clannad/Clannad: After Story, Miss Kobayashi’s Maid Dragon, A Silent Voice, The Melancoly of Haruhi Suzumiya, Amagi Brilliant Park, AIR, and Violet Evergarden. Thank you KyoAni for bringing me and countless others lots of joy and great entertainment throughout the years. It greatly saddens me that a so many talented individuals have been affected by this tragedy. I’m hoping and praying for their swift recovery. Things will never be the same for everyone involved, but I know they’ll pull through in the end. My most heartfelt condolences goes out to all the families and friends of all the KyoAni employees affected. Ganbatte! Faito KyoAni!

Oh, BTW, if you want to help out KyoAni in some way or another, you can go here: Help KyoAni Heal and make a donation or post a message of encouragement and thanks to them. I already made a donation and plan to make some more when I can. So please if you can spare any amount of money, please make a donation at that GoFundMe project in the above link. It goes without saying, but it’s for a very, very worthy cause. Thanks in advance! 🙂

Commemorating CP on His Birthday

As a group set up to honor his memory, it would be remiss of us not to mark the birthday of our friend CP. While his passing gives us more pause for thought on this day of all days and brings a tinge of sadness to the usual yuletide celebrations, we’re also minded to celebrate all he did for the anime fansubbing community.

Our original plan was to release something today to mark CP’s B’day but unfortunately forces beyond our control have conspired against us and what we’ve been working on isn’t ready yet (okay okay, it’s mostly or entirely my fault >.> gomenesai ;__; ). However, the good fellas over at Saizen, Live-eviL and what remains of Frostii haven’t been as lazy as me and they have released a number of episodes to mark CP’s birthday, including some projects CP worked on, such as Yawara.

Oh and Merry Christmas one and all. Hopefully we’ll have some releases for you in the very near future.

Welcome to ConsiderPhlebas Productions(CPP)!

We’re a new fansubbing group consisting of experienced, long-time subbers who wanted to create a group to honor our dearly departed friend and former fellow fansubber, ConsiderPhlebas (CP). The name of the group is also a dedication to his memory. This website is still a work in progress, so expect visual changes in the future. Don’t be surprised if there are any drastic changes and whatnot. We have someone helping us out to improve the overall look and functionality of the website.

Our main goal is to sub anime that either CP liked or would have liked. These shows will be ones that are unsubbed, underrated, and unlicensed (for both streaming and physical releases) stuff. We want to work on and make available previously untranslated anime to the masses. Sometimes we might work on old, lesser known anime that have been previously subbed that either has “OK-ish quality” subs (ones that we think can be greatly improved). Mainly stuff that used to be licensed during the VHS/Laser Disc(LD) eras or just old pre-digisubs stuff. We won’t be working on anime that is already licensed (for both streaming and physical releases), because I personally would rather have you either watch the available streaming episodes and/or buy the physical releases to support the original creators. The other members of the group support this idea as well. Now of course, you might be saying, “But a fair amount of the streaming and physically released stuff’s, AKA licensed stuff, subs quality aren’t all that great.” I won’t argue with you about that, but this is just a sort of morality/personal preference thing for me and the rest of the group. 😉

Anyway, that about sums it up in a nutshell. I hope you all enjoy our releases. We will do our best to release stuff on a somewhat consistant basis. However, like many of you out there, we have real life (aka IRL/offline) obligations, so don’t expect super speedy releases. We’re all doing this on our own free time and “for the love of if”. Of course, I’m not saying we won’t ever be fast, since that might happen from time to time. It all really depends on what’s going on in the lives of all the group members at any given point in time. You all have been warned. Welp, enjoy your stay and have fun watching our releases!
