As some of you may remember, CP’s birthday was Christmas Eve so it’s only fitting that we release some more fairy tales to mark the day. It doesn’t feel like 5 years since we lost our friend CP but we hope to continue honoring his memory with more releases in the years to come. And there may be some surprise new projects on the way in 2021 too, so watch this space!
Back through the mists of time, when the world was still forming, a legend was born. Little did he know that, one day, many moons later, he would save the world… from unsubbed anime! Yes, our “mysterious” translator/group founder turns another year older today, and what better way to mark the occasion than releasing some more episodes of our current project? Well, throwing him a party and making him a three-tiered cake maybe, but this was the next best thing.
In this latest volume of fairy tales, we present: an emperor with some odd ideas about fashion; two bear cubs who find out that the glass isn’t always, uh, cleaner on the other side, a cautionary tale about beans, beans, the musical fruit; and the annual Whacking Day celebration.
We’ve got some treats for all of you in honor of CP on his birthday. We failed to release anything on CP Memorial Day (Sept. 8th) this year, so it was an absolute must for us to release something on his birthday, which also happens to be Christmas Eve. Anyway, on to what we’re releasing today:
Our first release is the start of a new project: Fairy Tales From Around The World. Originally aired in Japan from 1976 to 1979 under the title Manga Sekai Mukashibanashi, this mammoth collection of fairy tales boasts fables and folklore from all around the world, from childhood favourites we all remember (like The Little Mermaid pictured) to others that aren’t so widely known.
The numbering for this series is a little weird — we’ve decided to number the tales individually, but they originally aired as double features; part of our reason for doing this is because there are some re-airs of previous tales later on into the series. So we figured releasing the episodes as they are on the DVDs is the way to go, which means 4 episodes per volume.
For our second (and final release), we present an extended DVD version of Keifuku-san. We already released the shorter, web version of the same title back in January 2018. This extended version has a short bonus scene at the end. You’re probably wondering, “Why even bother if it’s just a short bonus scene?” Well, for one thing, the DVD version’s video quality is better than the web version. Plus, we’re all pretty fond of this nice, soothing little anime short, so why not?
Well, that’s about it. Hope you all enjoy these releases which you can grab below. Oh, and make sure to visit our friends over at Saizen and Live-eviL who will also be releasing some things to celebrate CP’s birthday.
